It's not common to hear this band's name when wondering around the post-hardcore genre that has flooded the mainstream of today. Most bands will admit liking and being influenced by Anthony Green and his buddies, even if Anthony is no longer with the band. They recorded this before even playing a show, and already from this, you can tell they showed potential.

"Seven Years" kicks off this wonderful EP with a slow lead-in that draws you into the chaos that Saosin is known for. The harsh bursts of distortion, Anthony's deep and unique voice screaming at the top of it's lungs, beautifully fast drum beats that just click along with the basslines and melodies. It works so well. "Translating The Name" follows en suite with it's fast-paced sound and harmonies that just flow through the speakers oh so well.

The EP then shifts into more of a Glassjaw-style route, with "3rd Measurement In C" leading the way. Easily the heaviest song on this 5 song EP, those awesome grinding riffs just bring out Anthony's voice more, and you realize he isn't just your average singer. No, he can hit notes like nobody can, and his scream is something to be envied by all "screamo" vocalists today. "Lost Symphonies" begins similarly to the second track, and shifts volume and tempo slightly throughout the song. Once again, the drums play a major focus, with fantastic lead-ins and standard beats through the song. It brings out those almost harmonic melodies so much better.

We end this fantastic EP with "They Perch On Their Stilts Pointing And Daring Me To Break Custom", sounding eeriely similar to Funeral For A Friend type. Their mix of melodic licks and riffs, basslines to bring out that heavy, beasty sound and drumming which makes you want to go insane and start smashing everything in sight, and of course vocals which just flow beautifully, it works perfectly.

Of course, this EP is heavily overated. Word-of-mouth and the Internet are the only reason Saosin are so popular now, but that doesn't stop this from being the biggest hype of 2003. It's nothing like a masterpiece, but it's certainly one hell of a listen. I suppose this is also the one piece of history to connect Anthony with the band, after he took off to do other projects. Still, take the time to listen to this one more time if you have it, and realize just how amazing this EP is.

This review is insufficient but this is a sick EP. Saosin is one of those bands that makes popcore interesting and really fun. Catchy without being obnoxious. I'm glad Anthony is in Circa Survive. He adds a lot.

I like them. They remind me of Further Seems Forever. Just slightly more dense. Too much production though.

This album is definitely superior to anyhting new of theirs. I personally love Anthony Green. I think that despite his high screeching voice, he is very distinct and is almost too catchy. He's in Circa Survive now, which is good in its own way but I liked how Saosin really mastered being fast but also incredibly poppy.

I gathered that. All the songs that they said were older defintely got the crowd going more and I found to be more enjoyable, but I enjoyed their whole set.

This EP is better than their newer one... I downloaded the new one initially, and it was really good... Then I bought it on Amazon and it was missing one of the better songs that i had heard in the download, it had a shitty acoustic version of a song that highlights every problem with Cove's voice, and they changed one of the other songs, leaving out one of the strongest, most emotional parts of the song... They really, really botched the latest EP. Hopefully they fix their stuff up before they release a full length.

This sucha good Ep. This is the emo side of my musical spectrum, and probably, my only. I love cove as the singer now, but I love Anthony Greens lyrics and screams more. Instrumentally, this Ep is so advanced; for being an Ep. Great band then and now.

Circla Curvive, whether you liek the sound, is the first band to acually know exactly what they're doing in a while.
