16" K Custom Fast crash

Price: £150 (taken from NDC)

Manufacturer: Zildjian

I was in the market for a more complex sounding crash cymbal and tried out some Ks and a couple of K Customs. I found this little gem at the back of the cymbal rack and was amazed at the response i got even when i wasnt using sticks. The cymbal has a fast response and a quick decay. The sound is dark yet cutting and has some beautiful overtones. For a darker cymbal with a modern touch, this crash has it all.

Ive had it nearly a year now and the sound just keeps getting better. I would reccomend this crash to anyone looking for a darker cymbal.

Nice review. I'm looking for a darker crash but maybe something with a lengthier response, so a 16" might be a bit small for me.

Then you havent developed a decent ear for cymbals then.

ZBTs are the lowest line zildjian themselves produce. They are sheet cymbals and therefore inferior quality to K customs. K Customs are literally top of the line. The sound may not be for you but ZBTs are in no way better sounding than Cast cymbals. I imagine A customs will be your style.

yeah, zbts are literally inferior in every way to any cast cymbal that Zildjian (or, for that matter, Sabian, Paiste, Istanbul Agop, etc.) makes. While you may not like the particular sound of K Custom, there is no way you can think cheap *** cymbals would sound as good as a top of the line cymbal.

I cringe everytime I watch a drummer on stage beating his cheap ZBTs and B8s. They literally sound like crap. They may not to you, but they sure do to the audience.

It's like saying that a Datsun 180-B is a better car than a Mercedes McClarens SLR just because you only drive at 30km/hr everywhere.

Well that's true in my case. I'll only get fuel efficient cars.

But yeah, for someone playing in his basement, then why the hell not? Your parents' ears will bleed, but meh.

Congratulations. I've been playing for 6 years and have a set of planet-z I still play in various situations. If he likes them, good on him, but they're not better cymbals.

Ok, I'm not going to acknowledge that I read that because I would get stupid.

Moving on...

Nice buy. I have K Dark Custom 13" Hats and they're the best hats in the world.

I need a better crash, but I'm poor. Maybe I'll look into that. All I have now is a zbt crash and a zht crash. Sucks...I know.

ZHT arent bad IMO.

I would maybe reccomend the 18" Fast crash if its to be your main/first pro crash though.

I love my pearl hats.

Theres a difference between loving a lower quality cymbal and claiming it to be better than the highest lines of cymbal.
