AAX stage hats

product: Sabian 14inch AAX stage hats
Finish: Brilliant
Price: Roughly $240 in a local music store and around $190 through massmusic.

So ive just purchased these hats yesterday and I am already hooked. The sound to these things are just amazing. Open, closed, and half open are all great sounds. These cymbals are very versatile, very fast, nice and bright. They cut extremely well too. I instantly fell in love with the washyness of these hats while half open. they are just beautiful.

This may be a stupid question but when you say open and half open how much space is between the cymbals?

depends really. mine are no more than an inch for sure. enough to be fully open but really not that much. maybe a gap like this | | but thats it.

Indeed they are great hats. Be aware though, if you want cut, there are better choices out there. I find my pair lacking in bite, just a little bit.

Just a note.

Do they blend pretty nicely though? I'd imagine they would...

Of course heavier models are gonna have more cut. They are going to be louder. But you can't put heavier hats in the same category as the stage hats. The stage hats are medium over heavy. So what I mean is, are there any hats with that same weight combo that have better cut?

Don't get me wrong people they're great hats, they blend just fine. I'm just saying I could use a little more cut. And no I can't think of any hats in the same weight as the Stages that would cut more.
