Ninja Editors HQ

*NEW!* The Ninja Editors MySpace account

So as not to spam up the FF Community Thread (any further), I've decided to start a side thread. What for, you might ask? For discussion of the latest proposed project, the formation of the band currently known as "The Ninja Editors".

What are the Ninja Editors?

Well, for one, it's a reference joke that's especially funny in the Final Fantasy Community Thread, but more importantly, it's a group of individuals that have an admiration and respect for the work of Nobuo Uematsu and his subsequent band project, The Black Mages. We intend to show our admiration and respect by paying them due tribute - and rocking out on them.

All discussion on the band should take place here as opposed to the main FF thread.

The Ninja Editors are (currently):
Lionheart1827 - Guitar, Drum Loops
MAthiAS - Guitar
FlyingPaul_83 - Guitar
DeusExMachina - Keyboards, Guitar
SpectrumGuitarist - Keyboards
fatbandit - Bass Guitar
Off-Duty
Lord Brummington - Bass Guitar
Assistance et. al.
The Buttloaves - Guitar Tech/Pyrotechnics
NightHorse - Roadie
Happy, marc man, red barchetta - Groupies

please post any corrections/updates

You play keys, right? My remembering-things-skill is off today.

I'm retarded. You're clearly a guitarist.

Alright, Ninja Editors, how about this for an idea.

For the recording of each song, we can have Lionheart create the drum loops first, since he does so enjoy that, and then he can send it out to each participating member. Then, each instrumentalist can record their part(s) on top of the drum loop and send it off to someone like Deus for compiling, since he is good at doing that part. I figure this should increase the "tightness" that we get out of the process.

Any thoughts?

Sounds snazzy to me.

Are there actually three guitar parts in BM music? I always thought it was just two.

If you ever need any extra keys work or samples I can help you out, but I doubt you'll need any.

Well, it seems that we're doing JENOVA first, and apparently there are three keyboard parts (I haven't looked at the music yet). Since we only have two keyboardists currently, I'm sure everyone would love to have you take over duties for the third keyboard part.

It is just two, but they don't all need to be playing at once. It could be rotational, depending on if certain players have preferences as to which songs they would rather do.

That, or hold auditions.

There's also the random noises that usher the song in and out, so Liberi could help out there as well. I mean, TBM have performed it only using two, and both keyboard lines are only one staff each, so it's possible to do it with two... just hard for parts two and three.

Do you have an e-mail address, or an AIM or Yahoo? Because I could easily send the official sheets to you.

For those that want scans straight from the official book, I have a link right here. However, this entails signing up for a forum just to D/L them. I think it's worth it, considering all guitar instruments have both tab and standard notation, and you have a comfortable knowledge of its accuracy.

For those that don't want to sign up for a forum, I can e-mail/IM you the sheets if you leave me an address to do so.

And Lionheart, you don't really need to know theory, but if you want some advice, there are threads around the forums, and I have quite a bit of knowledge of theory myself.

Which game is Zeromus from? I'm doing the FF Dream thing, and I'm working on FF7 at the moment. I think it's 6 or 8, right?

I had another idea as well, but I'll get to that later. I'd like to give it some thought before blurting out a proposition.
