Recommend LEC A Bass
This is the Official "Recommend LEC A New Bass" thread. I'm taking suggestions for just about any bass except for Fender and subisidiaries and Epiphone. I play mostly jazz, metal, experimental, and solo stuff. My style is comparable to Claypool, Butler, Flea, and Myung. I've only owned Ibanez basses, and absolutley loved them. I guess I just need a change from my SR506. So I guess my limits are 4 string and up, and less than $600. Can't be off eBay.
I'd really like to see an Explorer bass from a company other than Epi/ Gibson too... anyone know of any? |

Hmmm... Carvin's seem like a tasty offer.
I'd love to have a Warwick, but to get a good one just costs too much. The JP Bass is an intriguing offer, and I bet he'd do a custom body... hmm. Thanks guys. |

No, don't bet he will.
He WILL. Depending on how hard it is, there may be an upcharge. I asked him about a custom 9 but he said it'd be upwards of 2000 USD for a bolt-on and 2500 for a neck-through. You could get a 7 with his custom EQ on it, with a walnut body, and a burl maple top. Single cut. *drools* (This is what I want to get from him. ) |

Peavey T-40 if you can find one! It's got a jazzish body.... but also has two humbuckers and an interesting and versatile wiring layout. Hmmm...
Hmm.... A Traben? A Cort Curbow? A Cort Artisian? |

Man, that sounds like a secksy bass. Now make the neck 35" scale and tune it F#BEADGC and it's a deal. How much did he quote on that? |

He said he'd get back to me. I'm sure he'd make it 35" scale, since the F# would basically NEED the longer scale.

Yes, Shceter and Spector are your best bets.
Schecter = Lighter Spector = EMGs Both sound amazing in their own ways. |

I've been getting really into the no-midrange tone of Claypool with CCBoBB and Ryan Martine, and EMG's would probably aid that... hmm...

Or you could go for the pro version of it. |

Corts are very good. I own a C4, and all i use to for is metal. It has some growl, easy to play feels good and has a great tone. Would be even better with barts and an OBP-3.
