I am very disappointed with the last competition, but then I realized that it all worked out fine. Less work for me to do.


The Quarter Finalists who made it to this competition: I don't know all your usernames, so I'll list the email addresses/names/usernames (if I know them) that I got in your emails: Remember, I didn't know some of your Mx names, so some of these names will be your email addresses/real names

The Quarter Finals

This is quite simple. You guys get to pick your own bands. You pick ONE band to defend, and ONE band to argue against. That = 2 bands.

ONLY RULE ABOUT THE BANDS YOU PICK Neither of the bands can be nu-metal, or any CURRENT Mainstream band.

New Rule! You may not pick bands that have been used in previous rounds. That includes the following: Linkin Park, Cryptopsy, The Beatles, Metallica, Nirvana, and Slipknot

3 OF YOU WILL BE ELIMINATED THIS ROUND. 4 OF YOU WILL MOVE ON TO THE SEMI-FINALS


It was a lot easier posting your entries on the forums, so this round POST YOUR ENTRIES ON THE FORUMS. DO NOT EMAIL ME


You must have your Quarter Final entries in by AUGUST 8TH. THAT'S NEXT SUNDAY. THAT GIVES YOU A WEEK AND TWO DAYS. PLEASE CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY IF YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET YOUR ENTRY IN DUE TO VACATION, OR ANY OTHER MATTER. THINGS CAN BE ARRANGED


There is no proper length that these have to be, but just remember that 3 of you are going to get eliminated this round, so do the best you can. I would make them long if I were you.

Hopefully, everyone that made it will participate this time, so you guys don't automatically pass to the next round this time.

Have fun, and think intelligence when writing these...

Radiohead Radiohead is a great band. They have steadily progressed form album to album from alternative guitar rock (Pablo Honey, The Bends) to ElectroniProg (Amnesiac, Kid A). One would be hard pressed to find at least one Radiohead song they did not enjoy.

Thom Yorke's vocals are one of the first things people notice when they hear Radiohead. He has a stunning voice that, through the garbled and mumbled words, soars above the rest of the music. He has one of the most emotive voices in music today. His lyrics, when understood or read, are also very strong. While they may be a bit complicated or confusing are excellent observations on human nature. From album to album his voice is mixed in differently and just as well as the last. In the Bends and OK Computer they were very prominent while in Kid A and Amnesiac they were used more like just another instrument in the music. Johnny Greenwood is the other piece of the puzzle as he uses his super effected guitar to set atmosphere and mood to each song.

I suppose Rufu Wainwright didn't count as rock since he's all over the place. Been replaced with Radiohead.

Is Metallica considered nu metal now??

:-/ I'm going to add a rule against choosing Metallica. They might as well be considered nu-metal. Extremely popular.


And Metallica was used for the last competition (for a few people anyway) so I'm going to add the rule that you can't use any previous bands that were in the Competition.

Thats fine.. see ust a thought.. cuz if i cant argue against nu or mainstream metal. then Metallica was the only choice i thought.. since i only listen to Metal im not gonna bash something i dunno about.. and Metallica are th only metal band that i dont have respect now.. i love all 80's metal icant find a band that idont like.. wether tis from Tradtional Metal, To early black metal or Thrash metal.. i lvoe em all!!!
