mighty mite/warmoth

hey... im thinkin a cool little project would be to build up a guitar... im thinkin id prefer the body to already be cut but maybe not finished yet (not sure though)... anyone have any experience with either mighty mite or warmoth bodies... thanks for your input...

oh and by the way, has anyone here ever installed a floyd on a strat, if so how hard was it?

I've installed six of them, yay me!

Was piss hard at the beginning, measuring up the stuff and make sure that the strings weren't way off the fretboard when you were done. I've only routed for a recessed floyd once though.. Not too hard, but make sure you've got the appropriate tools and that the dimensions (string space etc.) fits.

six... wow thats a lot... did you use warmoth or mighty mite? how do they sound and is it worth it in the end to build up a guitar from scratch?

I can't praise warmoth enough for the quality of the hardware, wood etc that they use. A friend of mine built an entire custom guitar up from scratch, exotic woods, a floyd, H/S/H config, and lots of other jazz, including his fretboard which has an inlay that I can't remember what was written on it. Ended up with only having to pay $1200. The good thing with warmoth is that they sell everything ridiculously cheap, yet the quality is top notch, and the options for different things are endless. I think, if you really want a special guitar that's yours only, use warmoth. Can't say anything with mighty mite, but I'd choose warmoth in an instant.
Warmoth also routes your guitar for you if you want a floyd, so all you gotta do is to pop it right in. I've been working with different guitars, and one of them was the warmoth guitar that my friend got.
