Stratocaster vs starcaster

whats the difference between a stratocaster and a Starcaster?

guitar_p 01-12-2005 04:33 PM

i have only seen a satrcaster once, in costco

Pistol Whip 01-12-2005 04:40 PM

a starcaster is this bull**** guitar fender wanted to make it an acoustic-electric guitar. No one bought it so they stopped making them i doubt they still make them

oopyman 01-12-2005 04:41 PM

What the hell is a Starcaster?

Kind-of like a Tele mixed with a ES-335. Very rare and very expensive nowadays.

Insomnidizzle 01-12-2005 04:45 PM

They're not bad IMO. Wouldn't buy one though

To answer your question, it's a hollow body and it has humbuckers while the strat is a solid body and has single coil p'ups

GreyHam 01-12-2005 04:45 PM

i think the name starcaster has also been plastered on budget guitars as well

although the original starcasters, i really like.

Grantplus 01-12-2005 04:46 PM

i saw a new starcaster, it looked just like a stratocaster but it had 4 pickups and it said starcaster...

guitar_p 01-12-2005 04:46 PM

wait, that isnt like the one i saw, the one i saw had the body shaped just like a stratocaster but it sayd starcaster in the headstock

Haze 01-12-2005 04:47 PM

I like the look of the hollowbody one. Tis nice.

TheSpokenWheel 01-12-2005 05:07 PM

thats actually a pretty nice looking guitar

bizkit7317 01-12-2005 05:44 PM

guitar_p 01-12-2005 05:49 PM

???
You probably misread... if it was a Fender, and it looked like a Stratocaster, it was probably a Stratocaster...

flyhalf 01-12-2005 06:23 PM

if it looked like a stratocaster, but said starcaster it probably was a stratocaster copy?

im liking the looks on that real fender starcaster though, but 5 control knobs? :amaze:

fred_ed_ted 01-12-2005 06:27 PM

A guitarist friend of mine owns an original Starcaster... Beautiful guitar. I'd much rather it over a strat.

no, it sayd starcaster and fender, but it was sold at costco so it was probably a copy.

Shazzam 01-12-2005 07:08 PM

Yeah their around $90 at Costco, let me tell you, they suck more than Squiers (well the kind there do).

Chipwich88 01-12-2005 07:43 PM

Original Starcasters were very good guitars, they just didn't appeal to a large market. And yes, 5 knobs... 2 volume, 2 tone, 1 master volume.

Pitchblack 01-12-2005 08:57 PM

jonny greenwood has a red sunburst starcaster. it looked gorgeous live.
