Eddie Van Halen is one of rocks greatest guitar players of all time. Eddie's style was new and different and helped the band become as popular as they were. But in 1985, Van Halen fired lead singer David Lee Roth and replaced him with Sammy Hagar. Even with with a new lead singer the band was still very successful. Then after tensions between Sammy and Eddie grew, Sammy Hagar was fired. The band then replaced Hagar with former vocalist David Lee Roth, but only to record two new songs. He was then replaced by Gary Cherone, former lead singer of Extreme. They came out with the CD Van Halen III, which ended up being their worst selling record. After that Cherone was fired. In 2001, Eddie was diagnosed with throat cancer. After recovering, Van Halen got back together with Sammy Hagar for a farewell tour.
