Queen are a pivotal rock band, formed by Brian May in 1970. Their unique style to the rock music genre has influenced many artists, and the styles and features used are still present in today's music. Queen consisted of 4 members: Freddie Mercury(Vocals/piano) John Deacon(Bass, backing vocals, occasional guitar), Brian May(Guitar/Piano/Vocals) and Roger Taylor(drums/Vocals). The band's talent saw them incorporate a diversity of music styles, multi-layered arrangements (particularly with vocal harmonies) as well as involving the crowd in their performances.
Queen are the only band to have a top 10 hit written by each member of the band. As a group they released no fewer than 15 albums, and many more as solo artists. It is estimated that 130 to over 300 million of their albums have sold worldwide.After Mercury's death from AIDs complications, the band went into a dormant period. They released an album in 1995 containing unfinished material produced before Freddie's death. Bassist John Deacon retired while Brian and Roger still remain active.
